Part of my New Year's resolution, aside from backgrounds, is to draw more fanart. I'm really lacking when it comes to stuff like that. xD

So I decided to draw Firestar again since I haven't done a pic of him in awhile. I tried to make him look a little more grown up than I normally do.

Dunno if I pulled that off or not. Also the background was rushed...severely. xD

Firestar is a ginger cat.

GINGER.

It was mentioned nowhere in the series he had dark tiger stripes all over him.

Looks like something from Lion King with some stripes and no mane.

Very nice art, but ignored details.

Well excuse me for offending you with my interpretation of a fictional character and not drawing him exactly to your standards. I guess next time I'll just have to draw him exactly how he's described in the books, hmm?

However, I will always draw my Firestar with stripes whether or not it was mentioned in any of the books. Granted, they won't be as dark as they appear here (this picture is fairly old), but he'll have stripes nonetheless.

Please know that there is no such thing as a solid orange feline. Orange cats...or "ginger"...all possess the gene for showing tabby patterns, however in some individuals this gene is masked so heavily that only faint "ghost" stripes can be seen. Though, because of this, all orange felines will show stripes of some degree!

Also, I'm entitled to my own interpretation of Firestar. If I want to draw him with bold stripes and an orange "non-ginger" pelt, then so what.
